You will choose a media text, determine its message and then walk through the seven steps of media literacy (reference already by one or two of you) using your chosen text. Next, think critically about the text and consider any negative (or positive) effects it may have. For example, does a particular advertisement hypersexualize men, thus creating (potentially) unrealistic image expectations for them? Finally, recreate the text (in this example, the advertisement, to make things less objectifying and hypersexual). If you feel you do not have the ability to actually recreate it, you can write up a detailed explanation as to what you would do.
Your analysis through the seven steps and discussion of media effects should be approximately four- to six-pages long.
